WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A CHURCH?
There is always a leery feeling when searching for a church family. You may ask questions like, “Do they preach from the Bible?”, “What are the people like?”, “Are they friendly?”, “What type of programs are there for my children and teens?”, “ What type of music do they sing?”, “What kind of an atmosphere is it?” The list of questions can go on and on, and the process can be very daunting. Not to mention, there are so many different denominations to choose from! How do I know whats right? Where would God have me to be?

While, in the moment, fancy coffee shops, emotion jerking worship songs and feel good messages may seem good and appeal to our carnal nature; it all lacks depth and the power of God. The messages are quickly forgotten and leave little lasting change. In 2 Timothy 3:5, the Bible refers to these people/groups as having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof… What does the Bible tell us to do in such cases? Turn away!

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:8-9 that God’s thoughts and ways are not our ways and His ways are higher than ours. Also, Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that our heart is desperatly wicked. We cannot trust our “feelings” or follow our heart when determining what church to go to. The Bible is the only steering wheel that will steer us straight!
