Partners of Delta Montrose & Ouray Youth Mentoring

Description

Junior Partners are children, ages six through seventeen, who have been referred by community agencies. Referring agencies have identified these youth as in need of the support and guidance that a caring adult can provide. Having a mentor helps children build more self-confidence, self-esteem, and create big goals for themselves.

Senior Partners are men and women who volunteer to be friends, advocates, and role models for referred youth. They are screened and trained to support, accept, and guide their Junior Partners. Senior Partners make a commitment of time and energy that often evolves into a lifelong friendship. Professional staff match Junion Partners and Senior Partners to form "partnerships."

The Partners Program supports these relationships through volunteer training, recreational opportunities, life skills education, and other support services.

Partners is a community expression of how individuals can be involved in making a positive impact on the future, one person at a time.
